It was during a trip to Canada and Alaska in 2013 that Adriaan and Casper first tasted "real beer". The balanced and smooth flavors of style inspired them to investigate this further upon their return to Taiwan. Convincing Kevin to join them in this endeavor was easy. Kevin grew up drinking Guinness instead of mother's milk and hot whiskey toddies instead of water. Together the three started home brewing in makeshift pots on the twins' balcony. It soon became evident that there was a genuine interest in the stuff they concocted even with their limited knowledge. The response was overwhelming. Week after week friends visited in order to learn about the brewing process and taste various beer styles. As the weeks turned into months, the three giants concentrated on recipe development. They brewed traditional styles made with traditional ingredients, and then changed the hop and grain profile to create beers that reflected these styles but that were distinctly their own. To learn more about the trade they visited beer festivals, local and international breweries and tried to sample as many craft beers as they could get their hands on. In 2015 they formed 3 Giants Brewing Co. and set about planning and designing a state of the art 1000L brew house.
